Sleeping in.
Cleaning.
Baking banana bread.
Movies.
Playing games.
Taking naps.
Reading a book.
Writing a book.
These are just a few reasons why I love Saturdays. I mean, c'mon! What's not to love? Relaxation on every level. Not to mention that the snow outside is so stinkin' AMAZING! I'm sitting here with a cup of hot chocolate, watching You've Got Mail (my favorite movie) and the aroma of freshly baked banana bread is lingering all around the apartment. Seriously folks, how can a day be any better?

Really? W.O.W.
Not even two full days have passed and I already have another complaint to add to the currently rapidly growing list of annoyances. Today's pick? The male sex. Someone please gag me.
Why is it that when a young, outgoing, smart, funny woman merely asks how a young man is enjoying the day or perhaps how his weekend was or maybe even how he's liking the new classes of the semester, his mind is translating all of that into, "Holy cow. She must like me." Yeah, because any normal young woman couldn't simply just be trying to become your friend. I mean, the girl doesn't even know you but you got it mister! After one brief 3 minute conversation and an awkward side hug, she's already got the dates planned for your wedding, colors and all.
Really?
Does it not ever occur to some guys that it truly is possible for a girl to want to talk to you because she wants to be your friend? I mean, you're new to the area, you go to church together so shouldn't you be happy that people want to talk to you, get to know you a bit? And not automatically assume that all this friendly girl wants to do is marry you? 9 times out of 10, boys, she doesn't like you, especially if you've just met.
So, you wanted to know what it's like living inside a girl's head. Well, here's a treasure you can tuck away and pull out whenever you're feeling confused: If you think a girl likes you after one maybe two conversations but you think that's just a little creepy so you stop talking to her and as a result she stops trying to be your friend, you have no right, or in other words, don't you dare think that you can complain that you wish you knew more girls and so on because the only person to blame is yourself.
It makes me sick to see it! It happens almost every week! Guys, WAKE UP! Pull your heads OUT of the ostrich hole of stupidity and cockiness and smell the potent coffee! Girls like to talk, girls like to get to know new people! Don't assume anything. Because we all know what happens when you assume! And who wants to create that awkwardness? Certainly not me.
One last thing, fellas, next time a girl asks you a question or seems interested in that song that your playing on the piano (in a very public venue, might I add) or wants to know what your favorite game is, don't assume that she wants to marry you and have your babies.
You have no idea how much I'm sickened by the male race right now...

Wait...What!?
Okay, so, you know when life throws you lemons and everyone tells you to make lemonade? Yeah, well, my new response to that it this: When life throws you lemons, throw them back and demand the oranges you asked for in the first place!
Okay, now, you have to understand that I understand the whole "life and lemons" dealio (Make a good situation out of a bad one... yada yada yada) BUT why is it that so many people just sit idly by and accept whatever fate comes to them? They don't take the initiative to ask or even to DO! For Pete's sake people! Get off your tooshies and LIVE! It's just really sad to me.
Honestly, that doesn't have too much to do with my actual point but it goes hand in hand. Kind of.
Anyway, I'm at a point right now where life is just extremely CONFUSING. It's hard because I like to have a 2 year plan. At least. Now, I know that there are some things that just can't be planned, somethings happen and I can't control how or when but for the things I CAN control, I like to. Call me a control freak but I like to be organized! For example, I have no idea what I would like to do in the next couple of years. I know I want to go to school but I'd also like to do something called an ILP, (International Language Program) and helped teach English to Russian children...in Russia. But of course that costs money and the time that I'm there I wouldn't be working so when I got back to school I wouldn't have money. UNLESS I saved up enough so that by the time I got back I'd be fine. The ILP also has ways of fundraising but I'm horrible with that...
There are other things are factoring into this mess too. Like people, or the lack thereof (yeah, that won't make sense to any of you I'm sure...) Basically, life is just confusing. I don't know what I'm supposed to be doing! UHG!
Anyway, that's my lament for the day. But I'm happy though. I'm not as stressed as I may sound, really. For the most part life is great! I'm a happy girl. Just a confused one. :)

I Don't Know How To Title This!
Relief Society is amazing. No questions asked. The Lord is even more so. He knows what you need to hear when you need to be humbled and he knows who to send to say it. Sometimes it's surprising though. Sometimes that messenger is yourself.
I don't know if this happens to anyone else but sometimes people come to me for advice. (Okay, I know that happens to everyone at one point but there's something else.) After I've heard their story be it happy, sad, angry, confused or what have you, I start in on helping them sort it all out. Not that my almost 20 years of life holds so much advice for others that they should even come to me...Anyway, then as you're giving your advice you say something that fixes a huge problem you've been avoiding. Anyone? Anyone? Don't lie to yourself, it's happened to you before.
Well, today this happened to me in reverse. I was the one pouring out my frustrations about something and then I said one little sentence that just made everything click. It was the most embarrassing "duh" moment I think I've ever had. I doubt the person I was talking to even realized it but I felt like an idiot.
Now for why Relief Society was so amazing. So, you know when you get a piece of knowledge and you don't know what do to with it? Kind of like, "Gee, I know I should do this but how do I approach it gently and with care and concern?" Yes well, THAT was why Relief Society was amazing today. It was clearly outlined for me by the teacher and the girls that participated (again, including myself-more "duh" moments). All in all today was a day of learning and growth. The tender mercies of the Lord are incredible. And who knows? Maybe there are even more to come and the day is barely halfway through!

Well, It's the New Year.
Yes, 2010 is now here and with it comes a lot of exciting things. My 20th birthday (holy cow) two of my friends are getting home from their missions in April another in July, one of my 3 best friends is getting married in April...it's just going to be a very VERY good year! Another splendid this this new year brings is resolutions. Yes, my friends, it's time to put into action all the wonderful and exciting New Year's Resolutions I've concocted for myself. I have 4. But first let's visit last year...
2009 Resolution
No caffeine.-This little bugger was hard at first but then I was grateful that I moved here to Utah where you can find almost any beverage caffeine free! It's splendid. I gave it up because a-it really isn't all that good for you 2-I was addicted to Dr. Pepper (who can blame me??) and c-It didn't help me at all. In fact I never felt energized from it. I always felt lazy and tired. It was no bueno. But I made it through the year without once drinking caffeine. I am very proud of myself! :)
Now for 2010...
1-No eating out except for special occasions. (i.e. Birthdays, homecomings, etc.) This I decided because, for one, I'm a poor college student and it'll save me LOTS of money and two because I have plenty of food here at home. :)
2-No Soda. Not only will this help my teeth and possibly my weight, it'll help my energy! And Heaven knows I need all the energy I can get! I don't think this will be a challenge since I usually just have water everywhere I go. And since I'm not eating out, I don't think this will really be a problem. :)
3-No "sweets" during the week. Now, I define sweets as any of the following: candy, cake, pie, pudding, etc. So this may in fact be a challenge because I love me some candy and I have plenty left over from Christmas presents and birthday parties but I still have the weekends where I can have the sweet stuff. I was going to say no sweets at all but knowing me that would be too much of a restriction. So I am allowing myself to eat some on the weekends and during holidays. I think this will work out just splendidly.
4-Finish the Book of Mormon by April. I started last year and then my ward started a challenge in, oh what was it, October? or November?...Anyway, the challenge was to finish it by the end of the school year. Right now I have 2 chapters left in Mosiah and after I tackle Alma I should be good!
So there you have it. My four New Year's resolutions. I hope that I can stick to these like glue! I also hope that you all have made some and have the strength not to bend or break! HAPPY NEW YEAR!

R.I.P Gunner, You Were A Great Dog.
Gunner was a really good dog and I miss him. He died earlier today from a gunshot wound. I'll always remember him waiting up for me to come home when I was out late. He'd wait by the door and then follow me to my room as if he was my escort. He'd even wait for me to tell him goodnight before going over to the top of the stairs on our landing and laying down to guard us girls while we slept. He was a fun dog. If you were ever bored you could just give him an empty soda bottle and he'd be entertained for days, therefore, so would you. Gunner was also (on occasion) cuddly. I would be sick or just laying on the couch and he would come and rest his head next to mine as if to say he was sorry I was sick but that he loved me. He was also a stubborn little bugger sometimes. Some mornings he wouldn't eat breakfast without a raw egg mixed in. He also liked to run off, which in the end is how he died. But he was a friendly dog who really loved people. (Believe it or not, some dogs do NOT fit that category.)
Rest in peace, Gunner. I love you.

Finishing Up
Tuesday (the 24th):
I work in the Records and Registration office at BYU. Therefore I work with transcripts. Sending them and all that jazz. Well, I cannot tell you how many transcripts we had to send! You'd think that people wouldn't wait until the day before Thanksgiving break to send a transcript to a Grad school due on the 1st of December! Anyway, the thing that I was extremely grateful for was (and still is) the magical thing I like to call a "licker". It's a pen that moistens the seal on an envelope. It was seriously a blessing. :)
Wednesday:
I worked this day but campus was a wasteland. NO ONE who didn't have to be here was! So work was basically all about playing games, putting up Christmas decor, drinking hot chocolate and chatting about our plans for Christmas. I was really grateful for the relaxation! At work of all places! lol.
Thursday:
Seriously, so many things to be grateful for! 1-Family-people who will always love me and always be there for me. 2-friends who I can just be my crazy self with and yes, they do still love me! 3-A place to sleep every night. A place that is warm and well kept. 4-A healthy body. Though I have very minor silly little things (like Lactose intolerance and heart-burn) I can walk, run, skip, jump, play football, play basketball, and so much more! I also don't have to see a doctor every other week or take 20 pills everyday. For those things I am so grateful. Thursday was a good day. I went up to Pocotello, where my grandma lives, with my sisters and Bradford (Julie's boyfriend). We were able to serve at a Soup Kitchen type thing that Kimberly's friend's family has been doing for 20 years (I'm pretty sure it was 20 years...). We decided to take a route and deliver hot and cold meals to people who needed them. It felt really good. I like serving. :)
Friday:
Sleep. And more family. And more friends. lol. My alarm clock around 10:00am on Friday was my Dad calling to see how my Thanksgiving was. I love my Dad. He's my hero and one of the very few people I look up to. It was nice being to talk with him for awhile and though I've known that I miss my Dad, talking with him so close to when I'll be going home for the break made me realize HOW much I miss him. After hanging up with him my Mom called. I kid you not, about 3 minutes had passed. It was also really nice talking to her too. And, as with my dad, I realized that I miss my mom more than I thought. Basically, I miss my family and I can't wait to be home for a bit.
Friday night was really fun too. Not to many people were back from break yet so I felt like the apartment...as well as all of Provo, was somewhat empty and I'd have to just watch a movie...by myself. Well. That was not the case. I found friends! YAY! lol. But really, I did. And they came over and we made and ate cookies and watched a movie and I didn't feel lonely. I really felt loved! It was amazing.
Saturday:
BYU beat it's rival U of U and I got to go ( I didn't think I'd be able to) and experience the whole thing first hand! THAT was exciting and so tiring! I don't think I've ever gotten so anxious about any game in my life! lol. I will say here and now that what Max Hall said was not appropriate BUT everyone is human. That game was a dirty game all around and anyone who tries to argue otherwise is in denial. Nothing anyone did to Max Hall's family justifies him saying what he said however it was said. People? It's a game. Seriously. The players are really the only ones who benefit (or not) from winning (...or not.) I think it's just plain silliness to stop talking to your neighbor because of something a football player said, didn't say, did or didn't do. Rivalries are supposed to be fun, light hearted things and the crazy, insane, and sometimes ridiculous FANS are the ones who make it just plain mean. Anyway, I'll step off my soap box now and continue on with blessings...
Sunday:
Naps and, drum roll please, FRIENDS!!! I know, I know, I already said that 3 times but it always amazes me how much someone can do for you and barely know you! I have a few new friends, just some girls from church that I didn't know well and now know better, and we spent almost all of Sunday baking. 3 batches of cookies, chocolate covered pretzels and rice crispy treats. We plated and delivered them to some people in our ward and I cannot tell you how much fun I had. Sharla and Jenny are AWESOME!
Monday (I know, Dec. 1st is not in November but I'm on a roll!):
I think I say this every Monday but I don't care, FHE!!! I love my little family! Everyone comes, everyone participates, everyone ( I think) likes being there! It's just really satisfying to feel like I'm doing my "job" well. Seriously every single one of them is unique to the other and yet we all get along. I love them, I love them, I love them!!!! I can't say it enough.
Aside from FHE I'm also very grateful for Home teachers who are willing to come assist me at 10:30 at night. 'nough said.
Now, for the thing that seriously made my night on Monday. My dear friend Angela who happens to be in my FHE family AND my visiting teaching companion sent me a text that said "Look outside your door." Sitting there on the welcome mat was a pint of Cookies and Cream ice cream with the sweetest card ever. I don't know how she knew, but I needed that. No, not the ice cream but the gesture. Literally, I saw the present and started crying. It had been one of those days and she made it so much better. She cared. For her inspiration, I'm very grateful.
Tuesday:
I went to Boondocks, a fun center place, with my friend Matt and I had an amazing time. It was nice to just go and play laser tag and a wild assortment of arcade games and eat pizza...it was like being a little kid again. A little kid with no cares in the world. It was a nice break from being "a grown up". :)
Today: (Phew, I made it!)
Glee. Glee is a funny little show that my roommates and I bond over. Honestly I think that's the only thing that we ALL like watching! It's really nice to just sit with each other and watch a show. My roomies are great!
