If You Don't Like It.

Yes, we all have had to deal with roommates and yes, we all find things out about ourselves and others that we don't like or can't handle. Well, I've decided that I don't like hypocrites. Or should I say, people who don't think that they need to change in any way. They think that everyone else is always wrong and that all the service you provide for them warrants no thanks because, well obviously they deserve to be spoiled. News Flash! Just because that's how it was at home doesn't mean that's how everyone is going to treat you!
So as you may have guessed, I'm having issues with a person I live with. Now, I get it, she's grown up in a different atmosphere and has different opinions about things. Fine. But just know that yours isn't the only important opinion! UGH! But of course, I'm just a horrible person, so whatever.

Fabric Flowers

Yes, I won't deny it. I'm addicted to all these fabric flowers that one can see on almost everyone else's head. So, I decided today that I'm going to invest in some fabric and other necessary items so that I can MAKE not buy any and all headbands or flower clips that my heart so desires. The best part? I found a bajillion, tutorials on how to do it! YAY!
So, I thought I'd share some of those sites with Y-O-U! I found them helpful. :)

3. And I'm really excited about this one! Embellished Tank! SO EXCITED!

4. Last but not least this tutorial, just another flower design but oh so AWESOME!

And The Oscar Goes To...

Yes friends, the time for the best awards show
EVER
has come and gone and I would like to share with you the
WINNERS! YAY!

For Writing:
*Best Original Screenplay: The Hurt Locker
*Best Adapted Screenplay: Precious: Based on the Novel 'Push' by Sapphire

For all you Curious Georges out there who would like to know the difference, the difference is this: Original means that it was not based on a previously existing, short (film), book or character. Adapted means that it was turned into a movie based on an existing short, book or character. In this case it was a novel.

For Visual Effects:
*Avatar

While I'm not surprised, I am curious to actually see the whole movie. I've heard the visual effect (all the fancy 3D stuff James Cameron did) were fantabulous.

For Sound:
*Sound Mixing: The Hurt Locker
*Sound Editing: The Hurt Locker

No surprise here either. Usually these two awards go to the same movie. For those of you out there who don't know the difference I'll tell you! YAY for knowledge. Anywho, Sound mixing is the balance of explosions, commentary, cars tires screeching sires wailing etc. Basically the mixer says, "Okay there is a siren going off that we need to hear but they are also talking. I have to make it so that we can still hear them talking but the siren still sounds loud." Sound editing is responsible for making a puny bomb sound like the world is coming to an end and almost every other sound made by anything but a human.

For Short Film:
*Live Action: The New Tennants
*Animated: Logorama

Live action= real people, Animated=not real people. It's fairly simple. :)

For Music (One of My FAVORITE categories)
*Best Original Soundtrack: Up!
*Best Original Song: The Weary Kind from Crazy Heart

Never saw Crazy Heart but from what they showed last night I was sad. Considering that it was in competition with 2 songs from Disney's The Princess and the Frog. Personally I think one of them should've taken the award but I have a feeling that the Academy didn't want to award 2 animated films both the music Oscars. Poo on them. I do LOVE that Up! won for soundtrack. It's just so great!

For Make Up:
*Star Trek

Live long and prosper. I loved this movie and I'm so happy that Avatar was not nominated for this category. YAY STAR TREK!

For Foreign Language Film:
*The Secret in Their Eyes (El Secreto de Sus Ojos)

I never saw this one but I'm guessing it's good. I mean, c'mon. It won an Oscar!

For Film Editing:
*The Hurt Locker
I wouldn't know, I didn't see it.

For Documentary:
*Documentary Short: Music by Prudence
*Documentary Feature: The Cove

Yeah, I don't know the difference for this one.

For Directing:
*Katherine Bigelow-The Hurt Locker

She made history last night as the first female director
to receive the Oscar for best directing.

For Costume Design:
*Sandy Powell-The Young Victoria

Again, never saw it.

For Cinematography:
*Avatar

I'm thinking that I should see this movie.

For Art Direction:
*Avatar

Alright already! I'll go see it!

For Animated Feature Film:
*Up!
I'm alright with this. I love Up!

For Best Actress in a Supporting Role:
*Mo'Nique-Precious
I didn't see it but I heard she was crazy good.

For Best Actor in a Supporting Role:
*Christoph Waltz-Inglorious Basterds

For Best Actor in a Leading Role:
*Jeff Bridges-Crazy Heart

For Best Actress in a Leading Role:

*SANDRA BULLOCK!- The Blind Side
I did see this one and if you haven't you should! So worth it! I love love love it!

So there you are, friends! The Oscars. I'm excited to see next years' nominations but until then...enjoy this years' results!

Silent White Fluffy Stuff

Yes, it's March 5th and as of yesterday it has snowed in the lovely state of Utah.
Now, don't get me wrong
I LOVE snow. It's pretty (until it's pushed out of parking lots and is black) and it's fun to play in. I can't tell you how many times I've enjoyed being able to go have a snowball fight or build a snowman or slide down a hill at ridiculous speeds to curb the boredom that sometimes fills my life,
BUT
I just don't like it when the sun comes out for half the day and it's WARM and Sunny so you wear a dress and flip flops to work and then it starts down with rain then quickly turns to snow.
Gross.

So I've decided to stop being sad that it snowed because, let's be honest now folks, it's still Winter. The snow really does add an element of beauty to the earth. While I may not like walking (more like wading) through it, I do enjoy the silence of snow as it falls,
the way the birds seem to
dance
around the flakes as they're falling,
and the sort of calm that the white brings as it covers everything uniting the sky and the earth.
It's kind of
magical...
sometimes. :)

Tuesdays.

So I have Tuesdays off. No work, no school, right? Yeah, so I get all my "chores" done around my apartment. Like, dishes and cleaning my room and laundry. Laundry. I have a love/hate relationship with it. I don't mind doing it at our apartment laundry room because there are usually multiple machines open so I get my laundry done in about 2 hours instead of 4. But if there is only one washer open, I'll get my stuff in there if I can, no big deal. BUT the part I hate about it is this: No one else in my entire apartment complex seems to understand that they can't just leave their clothes in the washer and dryer ALL STINKIN' DAY LONG. Another thing I hate is that I'm not aggressive enough to dump their clean, wet clothes (or dry clothes) on the tables in our laundry room. I wouldn't like it if someone did that to me...then again, I don't leave my laundry sitting in one machine for 2 and 1/2 hours. Anywho, I'm just a little frustrated with all the shenanigans! On top of all that I have to pay 2 dollars just to wash and dry one ONE load of laundry. C'mon now folks. I'm a poor college kid! TWO DOLLARS??? REALLY!? Uhg.
On a happier note I took my Music 101 midterm #3 today. I did wonderfully and I'm not going to lie, I didn't study that hard. (Not that not studying for things is a good thing...) So I'm very happy, aside from the whole laundry thing. AND though it may not be as sunny as yesterday it is 48 degrees out there! BEAUTIFUL!!!! I'm wearing shorts. :)

Here Comes The Sun...

I've decided that Winter is the worst time. No, not because of the snow though I've learned to like it MUCH less but because there isn't any sun! Hardly any at most! You start to forget how good the sun feels on your skin, you get depressed and it just plain stinks! I myself went through a rough patch where I kind of just didn't feel like me. No pep. Which, if you know me, is pretty darn weird. But there is a light in all of our lives. That is the light of Christ. That's what has gotten me through this crazy dreary winter and guess what? The sun is shining today and I'm just a few steps closer to having this semester of school completed. I'm a happy girl and very grateful for:
1-My Parents. I don't know how they do it! They are seriously super heroes!
2-My sisters. I know I'm not always nice to them but they made me who I am in a way...lol.
3-My friends.
4-The Sun
5-School
6-My job (it seriously ROCKS!)
7-Theater and Music
